IRCC provides different online services for checking immigration and citizenship application status. The correct service depends on the application type and how it was submitted.
Use IRCC’s official status page
Check your application status on Canada.ca
Ways status may be available
- An IRCC secure account or portal used for the application
- A dedicated application status tracker for supported application types
- Client Application Status (CAS) for supported files
- Linking certain paper applications to an online account where IRCC permits it
If the status has not changed
A lack of a recent online update does not by itself mean that the application has been refused, lost or abandoned. Compare the application with current processing estimates and check all messages, document requests and contact information.
When to investigate further
Where processing is materially beyond the normal estimate, or there is a procedural fairness, admissibility or status issue, the complete record should be reviewed before deciding on a web-form enquiry, ATIP request or other legal step.
Immigration criteria, document requirements and public policies can change. Advice should be based on the rules and facts applicable when you apply.
