Canada to Raise Permanent Residence Fees on April 30, 2026

Permanent residence application fees can change periodically. Applicants preparing to submit an application should confirm the fee payable on the date of submission using the official Government of Canada fee schedule.

Why fee changes matter

An application can involve more than one government charge, depending on the immigration category and family composition. Principal applicants, spouses or partners and dependent children may be subject to different fees, and the Right of Permanent Residence Fee may also apply.

Before submitting an application

• Confirm the current government fee for the exact immigration category.
• Check whether the Right of Permanent Residence Fee applies.
• Calculate fees for accompanying family members separately.
• Retain the official payment receipt with the application record.
• Do not rely on an older fee amount simply because preparation began before a scheduled fee adjustment.

Government fees are separate from professional representation fees and other expenses such as medical examinations, police certificates, biometrics or document procurement where applicable.

Use the current official schedule

Because fee schedules can be amended, applicants should verify the amount directly with IRCC immediately before payment and submission.
