Median Wage Thresholds for Foreign Workers in Canada: 2025 Update
· Site Administrator
Why wage thresholds matter for LMIA applications
For current employer requirements, see our LMIA services and high-wage LMIA guidance.
Employment and Social Development Canada uses provincial and territorial wage thresholds to distinguish high-wage and low-wage LMIA applications. Employers must also consider the prevailing wage for the occupation and work location.
2025 wage changes
Wage thresholds were updated during 2025. These figures affected which LMIA stream applied and therefore affected requirements such as transition planning, low-wage caps and other program conditions.
Employers should use current figures
Wage thresholds and prevailing wages change. An employer preparing a new LMIA should not rely on a historical table without checking the current Government of Canada wage information for the province or territory and the applicable occupation.
