Farm Investor Pathway

Clear advice, careful preparation and professional representation for your Canadian immigration matter.

Farm Investor Pathway is the farm-business pathway within Manitoba's Business Investor Stream. It is intended for experienced farm business operators who have the financial capacity, practical farming background and genuine intention to establish and actively operate an eligible farm business in rural Manitoba.

Program Overview

This is not a passive investment program. Manitoba assesses the applicant's farm ownership and operating experience, financial capacity and lawful source of funds, proposed farm investment, business viability, practical farming knowledge and intention to live in Manitoba and manage the farm operation directly.

Eligibility and Farm Business Assessment

Applicants must satisfy the current MPNP Farm Investor Pathway criteria in force when they apply. Assessment can include minimum farm business experience, net worth, eligible investment, language or adaptability considerations, a farm business research visit where required, and the commercial viability of the proposed Manitoba farm operation. Minimum eligibility does not guarantee provincial approval.

Application Process

The pathway uses Manitoba's Business Investor Stream process rather than the Skilled Worker selection model. A prospective applicant should confirm the current provincial submission, interest or invitation requirements before filing. If invited to submit a full application, the applicant must document the farm business proposal, finances, source and accumulation of funds, experience and all other program requirements.

Nomination and Permanent Residence

A Manitoba nomination is not permanent residence. After nomination, the applicant must make the required permanent residence application to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada, which retains responsibility for federal admissibility and the final permanent residence decision.
